The first time I saw the Amalfi Coast

My first time on the Amalfi Coast was a few decades ago… My future husband and I had just met and he decided to take me for a day trip to Amalfi. As soon as we arrived I was awed by the gorgeous Duomo with its monumental staircase and its beautiful marble walls; and then after walking around the quaint streets and shopping for ceramics we went to the port and enjoyed a romantic dinner in the medieval tower overlooking the bay at dusk. A couple of years later, now married and on an extended honeymoon, we moved to Praiano right in the heart of the Divina Costiera, where we settled in a small house perched on the cliffside overlooking the sea and my heart melted as I felt I was living in a painting….

My first cooking class

Shortly after moving to Praiano I quickly realized this gorgeous wonderland is not just a beauty for the sight but heaven for all the senses, and foremost an endless bounty of genuine local food and traditional recipes which are hard to replicate elsewhere due to the amazing local products, like the unique lemons this area is famous for. Nevertheless, it is an incredible adventure to take a local cooking class and learn how to make mouthwatering food if you come across genuine ingredients. Of course the first thing I learnt was how to make fresh pasta and the amazing Nerano recipe which Jackie so loved….

A boat ride along the coast

One of the things we love doing here is taking a leisurely boat ride along the coast enjoying every hidden corner and the peace and quiet you can still find in certain less coveted portions of the Divina Costiera. Most people head to Positano and Capri but we like exploring the eastern portion of the coast between Maiori and Vietri where there is less boat traffic and some really beautiful coves with crystal clear waters where you can take a refreshing swim and enjoy a nice lunch in a local restaurant on the beach!

A boat tour to Capri

If you have never been to Capri this is a must do tour! It will be a long day filled with breathtaking views and unique items to cross off your bucket list. The best way is by private boat or small group tour allowing you to explore the coastline and enjoy a refreshing swim as well as spending a few hours on the picturesque island or savoring a delicious lunch in one of the beach restaurants in the pristine bay of Nerano. Whichever you choose you will remember this day for a lifetime!

I am not the hiking type

Believe it or not, some of us are just lazy and like to lay back and enjoy la Dolce Vita. However, after a few years of living on the Amalfi Coast and hearing endless requests to hike the Path of the Gods I finally decided to go and see for myself what all the bragging was about… well, I must say, it is indeed breathtaking and worth every drop of sweat and effort in motion. Take in the view of the Gods!

Shop ’til you drop…

Shopping on the Amalfi Coast is a great opportunity to capture one-of-a-kind items such as Positano’s iconic linen wear or hand-made sandals, Amalfi’s nautical memorabilia and hand-made paper, as well as unique jewelry with corals and cameos, and Vietri’s ceramic creations in both classical style and modern twist. Little mementos which will bring back fantastic memories once you are back home and give your heart a little dip in the dreamlike atmosphere of these magical places.

Fine dining and trattorias

Fine dining is definitely part of the experience on the Amalfi Coast. Here you will find a long list of gourmet and Michelin star restaurants waiting to delight your palate with incredible culinary creations, whether traditional or innovative, the best Chefs will endeavor to be on your top list and give you a memorable experience. Of course the same goes for the more simple trattorias where you can also try a more folkloric but genuine dining experience. Local unique ingredients like the famous lemons from the local groves, the mozzarella from Agerola, the anchovies from Cetara, the squid from Praiano, the wine from century old vines in Tramonti… all of them come together in the knowing hands of cooks and chefs and fill your senses with pleasure and joy!

Beach life

Of course when you book a trip to the Amalfi Coast you imagine yourself on a sun-lounger by the water enjoying a great day at the beach. Yet this might not be as easy as you think! Most hotels are way above the small remote beaches, hanging on the cliffside, or set in the middle of town surrounded by traffic, whether human or cars… And when you finally reach the beach after many a hassle… you will find it is likely small and quite crowded; beach clubs have become rather trendy lately and quite exclusive; many can be reached only by boat and can be rather pricey. Let us help you find the right place for you, whether quiet and romantic or more lively and family oriented; we can help you discover hidden gems that even the locals often don’t think about…

Sunset moods

Sunsets are a very precious moment here on the Amalfi Coast and you should always take the time to enjoy this special hour… Imagine yourself on a private boat looking towards Positano, Li Galli and Capri, the sun dives into the sea or behind the cliffs in the distance… Or picture a fun ride with a Calessino Ape to a magical Belvedere to watch this spectacular view unfold before your eyes from the top. All while sipping on a glass of Prosecco and enjoying La Dolce Vita!
